With the release of the Unleash The Skanimals album, Skanimals deliver a high energy ska and punk approach with a colorful and lush soundscape.
The LP is riddled with classic ska instrumentation and performances that give the feel of a live show, and it all has a bright and vibrant approach that hits hard when it wants to but still keeps to a catchy, pop coated tone.
The record encompasses everything you could want from a ska record and more with touches of edginess to go along with all the danceable and addictive fun. by bringing in some heavy-handed punk-rock into the mix. giving the record a harder style at times.
The album speaks volumes for Skanimals and should be heard in full.
After seeing The Interrupters live in Belgium, Skanimals’ bassist Marius Fugelsnes fell in love with ska
punk, and decided to form a band with likeminded musicians: Birk Aigner (vocals/trumpet), Tom
Matheson (guitar), Henrik Degnes (drums) and Øyvind Tømmernes (Hammond). One year later, their
very first album was released.
The debut album “Unleash The Skanimals” pushes the boundaries of what can be defined as ska
punk, and varies from classic ska punk to hard punk to experimental circus music. With catchy trumpet
lines, fast paced bass and sharp guitar riffs, this new Norwegian band will make your heart pound
faster and tempt you to dance.
Voted as second place in Ska-parades top 5 with the song B.O.T and with every single prior to the
album’s release played on radio, Skanimals has a lot of faith in their product.
