With the release of the "NOVA DAZE" single, Simon Horn takes a unique approach to instrumental pop music creating an atmosphere you can fall right into. With addictive beats, loads of character, and a colorful undertone, the record boasts the aesthetic of trip-hop anthems.

"The song is about friends hanging out and jamming on summer nights. The name "Nova Daze' comes from the musical dialogue of the bass and keys, reminiscent of the shimmering interplay of light from a celestial 'Nova' star. Supported by a hypnotic drum loop, the song encapsulates a mesmerizing 'Daze' effect.

 

'I found a cool lo-fi beat, jammed some bass lines and chords before asking Stuart to do his thing on Rhodes and moog synth. We had a rich heritage from playing together in funk bands in Canberra and Sydney Australia so the track came together really fast. A true moment of serendipity," says Simon.

Award-winning UK indie music bassist-songwriter Simon Horn debuts his latest release, "Nova Daze," drawing inspiration from ‘Conversations between sound and light’.

 

Infusing elements of Downtempo Funk and Trip Hop, "Nova Daze" sets a serene backdrop reminiscent of lazy summer afternoons, tinged with jazzy nuances.

 

Highlighting the synergy between Simon Horn's evocative bass melodies and collaborator Stuart Ross's atmospheric Fender Rhodes and haunting Moog lines, "Nova Daze" offers a captivating sonic journey.

"I was studying Jazz in Canberra Australia and met Stuart Ross who features on Nova Daze playing the lushes jazzy melodies on Fender Rhodes. Our college band Elephunk supported some big Australian bands on the University scene so we had a history of writing and performing together already. After moving to Sydney we had a 3 year Friday night residency and were free to just jam and make up funk and electro grooves on the spot. Nova Daze is a result of this musical bond we had created over a 5-year period," says Simon.
